In brief
In 2019 Singapore Changi Airport chose Better Border as their main planning tool for border operations at the airport. The project was initiated as a pilot on Better Border for proof of concept. The pilot included a cooperative maturation of Better Border, with Copenhagen Optimization driving the software to the next level, and Changi team to support with their superior knowledge on planning border operations.
The Solution:
In combination this has shown a fruitful combination of competencies, leading to tool which can support
Changi team in their complex planning processes, and has taken Better Border to the next level, making it
a unique and comprehensive planning tool for the border operations at any airport.
The project included development of several features, such as making Better Border a real time planning
tool, with updates to flight schedule instantly reflected in the plans for border operation. An integration
with realized data from passenger tracking is available, and plans are able to reoptimizing according to live
queue numbers. Further potential was identified during the pilot, for continuous development. Ultimately,
the cooperation during the pilot between Singapore Changi Team and Copenhagen Optimization has led to
a long term contract for Better Border to be rolled out in all four terminals at Changi
The Outcome:
Real–time updates of flights and passenger flows,
facilitating live planning.
Reallocation of flights from Better Border.
Optimize counter plans according to live queue
numbers.
