CASE - Fraport Greece engaged with Copenhagen Optimization to identify options for improving the security operation at Rhodes International Airport. The aspiration was to be able to introduce initiatives that would improve the operation quickly and before the approaching summer. At the same time, Fraport Greece was looking for initiatives that would make a positive long-term impact. 15 optimization initiatives were identified to improve the operation of the security checkpoints in T1 and T2 of Rhodes International Airport. The optimization initiatives were grouped and prioritized, and an implementation plan was developed to ensure the realization of the proposed initiatives.
The optimization initiatives concerned both forecasting, planning, checkpoint layouts, improvements to equipment, new technologies, wayfinding and changes in staff tasks and responsibilities. An immediate positive impact was observed at the airport.
THE PROJECT:
- 15 optimization initiatives were identified
- A proposed implementation plan was developed
- Vast improvements in efficiency were realized immediately
- Specific initiatives for long term improvements were established
