SEA Milano announces Better Forecast by Copenhagen Optimization as new passenger forecast solution.
Copenhagen, Denmark - SEA Group (SEA), has announced a new collaboration with Copenhagen Optimization (CopOpt) to introduce its Better Airport® solution, with the aim improving their forecasting capabilities, automating the forecasts, and giving complete control of the process to Milano Malpensa (MXP) and Milano Linate (LIN) airports.
SEA has opted in for Better Forecast, part of CopOpt’s Cloud-based planning solution Better Airport®. Better Airport® has already been successfully implemented at other international airports, including Toronto Pearson International, Bologna, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London Luton, and Geneva, with additional implementations ongoing in airports such as London Heathrow, JFK Terminal 4, Copenhagen, and Stansted.
Since its founding in 2014, CopOpt has become a leader in airport operations planning by combining in-depth operations research with hands-on airport operations experience in numerous airports around the world. Better Airport® – a cloud-based solution for all operational areas in an airport – enables airports to carry out all operational planning using one common operating platform.
SEA selected CopOpt through a competitive tender, where several forecasting solutions were trialed in a head-to-head competition. The main selection criterium was delivering an accurate forecast, where Better Forecast came out ahead.
SEA welcomed 35 million passengers in 2018 and has experienced significant growth over the last decade, with Malpensa growing more than 10% in 2018 alone. With Better Airport® SEA can efficiently forecast future passenger developments and use it to ensure an optimal utilization of infrastructure, continuing to be a reference point for growth of Northern Italy.
