From data to decisions: Real US airports results

You’re here because siloed data creates siloed operations. Explore real-life US cases showing how airports turned operational data into actionable information—so partners align faster and passengers feel the difference.

From bottlenecks to balanced reclaims

Faced with increasing international traffic and a constrained baggage reclaim area, Denver International Airport needed a smarter way to manage allocation across limited belt infrastructure.

Through data-driven modelling, automation, and flexible rules in Better Baggage, DEN gained real-time visibility and near-total automation of reclaim planning.

The result: a 30% reduction in overlapping allocations, balanced use of all belts, and a significant decrease in manual workload.

Rethinking airport operations - assessing the gate allocation

MSP faced a challenge when preparing for a new international route in summer 2024. Neither terminal seemed fit for the wide-body aircraft, raising airline concerns and the need for a data-driven solution.

Partnering with Copenhagen Optimization, MSP used Better Stand & Gate to simulate scenarios, testing impacts on towings, turnaround times, and unallocated flights.

The project delivered data-driven decisions and a foundation for MSP’s future independent gate management.

How SEA successfully introduced virtual queuing to its passengers as the first in the US

Virtual Queuing is a digital solution that allows passengers to book a time-slot for security screening, resulting in a greater airport efficiency and a higher passenger satisfaction.

SEA uses their Virtual Queuing solution to nudge passengers to arrive at pre-defined time slots and at pre- selected check points.

The result: Improved revenue, as passengers spend less time queuing, and thus more time in the airport retail area.

Optimization of the check-in and baggage operation

Learn how Toronto Pearson Airport increased utilization of current infrastructure before adding new capacity.

The results: Potential reductions in demand for check-in counters of 18% and 14% in demand for baggage make-up positions were documented.
