We offer services aimed at making the visit to a hospital a better experience for the patient. We do this by improving the planning of tasks, assuring the ability to follow and update plans on the day, and create a fact-based performance evaluation. We ascertain that the various departments involved in handling of patients are basing their decisions on the same set of numbers.
An abundance of data is collected and stored at hospitals today. This creates a valuable base for analyzing the process flows for the patient, as well as for the specific department. This covers data down to the single scan of a sample, as it moves through the process required to establish a diagnose or the flow of patients between various departments. Typically, we analyze at least 12 month’s worth of data to account for seasonality – often several million rows of data. We crunch the data and during this process, we identify patterns, uncover options for process improvement, and define KPIs on which to base a performance evaluation while closely cooperating with relevant stakeholders in the process.
Our experience is within planning of operations and analysis of data. This enables us to be a neutral third party, when it comes to academic discussions on patient welfare. Our clients see this as an advantage, as we are able to present the material in an objective and unbiased manner.
While basing our findings on data, our prime focus is on the recipients of data and the change required to improve the operation. Communication of our results is done in close and careful cooperation with clinic management. Implementation is done gradually to ensure that the changes are successfully integrated in the daily processes.

The Pathology Department (PA) at Rigshospitalet has two main challenges today: 1) challenge with timely response to the highest number of samples with scarce resources; 2) the involvement of the pathology department from Bispebjerg Hospital, which results in a capacity challenge in terms of equipment and square meters. The Center Management at Diagnostic Center contacted Copenhagen Optimization in order to optimize the trial course and ensure the necessary capacity after the relocation.See the case studySee the case study
